Inside the Secret Garden Cottage

Music Room

Need to rehearse some music or want to just have a sing-along with friends? One of this home’s unique features is the multi-purpose Music Room, as it includes a quality, tuned Kawai piano. For your convenience, there is a built-in desk with some basic supplies. And not only is the sofa a perfect place for reading, it also can be made up as an additional double bed to accommodate 1 or 2 more guests.

NOTE: In order to use the sofa bed, I need to be notified when you make your reservation, so that it can be fully set up before your arrival with a comfy additional foam mattress, mattress cover, sheets, pillows and comforter, as well as additional towels.

Kitchen

Equipped with full-size appliances, including a microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and blender, guests have called the kitchen the best-equipped they have ever encountered at a short-term rental property! Tableware and cookware are in abundance, with additional serving pieces and wine glasses located in the Garden Room cabinet.

Located outside, on the other side of the Garden Room, a large propane-fuelled BBQ is available for your use. 

A Keurig coffee maker and coffee are provided, along with a variety of teas. The pantry contains everything you need to cook and bake, with a multitude of spices, cooking oils, vinegars, and other kitchen staples such as flour and rice.

Washer and dryer, including detergent, are located in a kitchen closet for your convenience. Iron and ironing board are provided in the basement, along with a drying rack. 

Living Room

The Smart TV allows you to access your favourite streaming service and use your personal memberships, as desired, or choose Amazon PRIME Video or Music, provided by the Secret Garden Cottage for your viewing and listening pleasure. There is a plethora of games, puzzles and books for you to enjoy during your stay, and the Electric Fireplace helps to keep you warm during the cooler months.

Dining Room

Adjacent to the kitchen, this room contains a buffet unit, table and 6 chairs.

Garden Room

This light-filled room is a highlight of the home. The room includes an electric fireplace and overlooks the Secret Garden. It’s a great place to read, and enjoy a large mug of tea or glass of wine.

Powder Room

This is located on the main floor.

Master Bedroom

This large room has a super-comfortable queen-sized bed with night tables on either side of it, 2 closets, a chest of drawers, and a twin-sized sofa bed. As well, there is a luggage rack provided for your convenience.

All of the bedding is top-quality, and there are several different types of pillows in the room, so that you can choose what you are most comfortable sleeping with. Curl up on the sofa to read, or use it as an extra bed to accommodate an additional guest.

Turquoise Bedroom

The Cozy Turquoise Bedroom gets its name from the décor, which includes a super-comfortable queen-sized bed, chest, and functional closet with a luggage rack.

Upstairs Bathroom

This spacious, full bathroom has plenty of counter space for your travel items, a sink, bathtub/shower, and toilet. The towels are plush and cozy! Enjoy the complimentary Rocky Mountain Soap and Pharmacopia toiletries provided for your convenience.

NOTE: The bathroom floor can be heated during the winter.

Outside the Secret Garden Cottage

Back Deck

Adjacent to the Garden Room, the back deck has seating for four. In the spring, the beautiful wisteria hangs from above. In the warmer months, enjoy a meal with a great view!

Shed

Located at the back of the garden, the shed contains 2 bicycles, saving you having to rent elsewhere! A picnic knapsack is provided for your enjoyment.

NOTE: For your safety, it is recommended that you bring your own helmets.

Secret Garden

The cottage’s namesake is a true treasure. Take in the stunning view of the garden from the Muskoka chairs in the shade of the willow trees. You are welcome to enjoy produce from the vegetable garden during your stay.

About the Area

I leave my guests a complimentary bottle of local wine as a gift. There are so many fabulous wineries in the immediate area and beyond, and I suggest that you book some tastings, and purchase from them directly, as do I. 

There are a multitude of activities available to you in Niagara-on-the-Lake and the other nearby towns. The bulletin board in the kitchen contains lots of information that will help you to plan each day of your stay, and many flyers and coupons provided by all kinds of local businesses and wineries can be found in both the Dining Room and basement. I’m also happy to make recommendations.

The Secret Garden Cottage is situated next door to a plaza with a Royal Bank and ATM machine, the Avondale Food Store, offering all kinds of convenience options (open from early in the morning to 11pm at night), and more!

Need a coffee, tea or latte fix? There are several local coffee shops in the vicinity, including a Starbucks on Queen Street, a Balzacs, and a Tim Horton’s that is just kitty-corner to the house.
